In the grim, cold corners of Duesos, a small town nestled in the heart of Asturias, northwest Spain, Alicia, a city-bred nurse, finds herself returning to the echoes of her haunted past. With her unemployed husband, Mikel, and their ten-year-old daughter, Nora, in tow, she leaves the city's comfort to care for her dying mother, Victoria. Trapped in a coma and tethered to life by the hum of a life support machine, Victoria's once domineering presence is reduced to a mere whisper. But even in silence, the specter of her cruelty lingers. Alicia finds herself grappling with the ghosts of her past, forced to reconcile her present life with a cruelly scarred childhood. Her past is a mausoleum of painful memories, where Victoria reigned as an abusive matriarch, her sanity lost in the abyss of grief and witchcraft following her husband's death.
