Plot

In the heart of San Francisco, the Potter family—Harry Sr., Anne, Harry Jr., and little Wendy Anne—settles into a new apartment, unaware of the ancient evil lurking within its walls. The building is not just bricks and mortar but the chosen ground for Torok—an insidious troll and the transformed ex-husband of an affable witch, Eunice St. Clair. Torok has a sinister design; he yearns to restore the world he once knew, using the apartment building as the epicenter of his monstrous transformation. Unsuspecting Wendy Anne, drawn by curiosity, wanders into the laundry room one day, crossing paths with the malevolent Torok. The troll, wielding the power of an Emerald ring, ensnares Wendy's innocent soul, using her guise to initiate his heinous plan. One by one, he infiltrates the apartments of the unsuspecting tenants, grotesquely morphing them into plant-like pods—each a disturbing step closer to his troll kingdom. The first to fall victim is Peter Dickinson, a name echoing a literary figure known for exploring similar fantastical themes. Meanwhile, Harry Jr. senses the shifting undercurrents, the unsettling changes in his sister's behavior stirring his suspicions. Determined to uncover the truth, he seeks help from their enigmatic neighbor, Eunice St. Clair. The kind-hearted witch, with a past intertwined with Torok's, becomes Harry Jr.'s guiding light, illuminating the path to combat the encroaching darkness. Troll (1986) is a chilling journey into the realm of ancient magic, where the ordinary morphs into the extraordinary, and a young boy must brave unthinkable horrors to save his sister and their new home from the clutching grasp of an evil troll.
