Judith (1966)

In the tumultuous year of 1948, Palestine stands at the brink of transformation as the British Mandate is near its end, leaving behind the seeds of a newborn nation - Israel. Yet, the dawn of independence is clouded by the looming threats from neighboring Arab nations, their hostility a new challenge for Israel's defense force, the Haganah. The storm intensifies as intelligence reveals the enemy's secret weapon - General Gustav Schiller, an ex-German Panzer commander, now training the Arab forces in the art of tank warfare. The plot thickens as the Haganah unearths a personal connection to Schiller - his wife, Judith Auerbach Schiller, a Jewish woman betrayed by her own husband and left to perish in the bleak confines of a concentration camp. Judith, however, survives against all odds and is now fueled by a thirst for vengeance and a longing to find their son. Guided by the strategic brains of the Haganah, Judith is clandestinely taken into Israel and housed in a kibbutz under the vigilant watch of Haganah commander Aaron Stein. Battling the harsh realities of kibbutz life, Judith's impatience to fulfill her mission grows. The Haganah presents a tantalizing possibility - the British may hold a file on her husband, a breadcrumb trail to his location. To access it, she must win over the British commander, Major Lawton. Succumbing to Judith's allure, Major Lawton hands her the file, revealing a chilling fact - Schiller is in Damascus, Syria. With the enemy's lair identified, the Israeli intelligence team prepares to venture into hostile territory and capture the German General. Judith, driven by her quest for revenge, is asked to accompany them, her role crucial in positively identifying the General. Yet, her thoughts are consumed by vengeance, as the plot reaches its boiling point.
