The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)

This is a science fiction fantasy about an alien and his robot who comes to Earth in the 1950s to warn that humans are headed in a disastrous direction. The alien is immediately shot by a soldier, and the robot gets angry and shows his amazing powers of destruction. The alien recovers and tries to learn more about human behavior by befriending a local family. His message is that if humans don’t control their penchant for violence, the robots that keep the peace will destroy Earth. Will the Earthlings understand the message or continue with their wars and death to disastrous effect?
