The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)

A Japanese internment camp positioned by the River Kwai is using the labor of British POWs to build a railway bridge that will help resupply their forces. Many men see working on the bridge as a betrayal of their country, but Colonel Nicholson encourages them to put all their effort into it as a way of maintaining morale and proving themselves superior to their Japanese captors. But when an elite team of commandos are sent in to destroy the bridge, they'll discover that Colonel Nicholson's ego is as much a threat to their success as the enemy forces that are stationed there.
