Plot

In the tense and volatile demilitarized zone that splits North and South Korea, a charged incident leaves two North Korean soldiers dead, seemingly at the hands of a lone South Korean soldier. But the mystery deepens when the 16 bullet cartridges found on the scene surpass the capacity of the supposed assassin's gun, hinting at an unseen participant and pointing towards a potential cover-up. Into this delicate situation steps Major Sophie E. Jean, a representative from the neutral nations overseeing the DMZ, tasked with untangling this web of uncertainty. As she navigates the labyrinth of conflicting accounts and political pressures, Major Jean conducts interviews with the survivors - South Korean Sergeant Lee Soo-hyeok, Private Nam Sung-shik, and North Korean Sergeant Oh Kyeong-pil. As she digs deeper, the inconsistencies in their testimonies start to unravel, revealing a narrative that is far more heartrending than initially suspected. What comes to light is a tragic tale of friendship that unfolded in the most unlikely of places, right in the heart of a divided nation. In Joint Security Area, the line between cold-blooded murder and poignant humanity blurs, leaving viewers entangled in a gripping exploration of camaraderie, betrayal, and the devastating costs of war.
