Plot

In the heart of Gwangju, nestled amidst deceit and corruption, stands a school for the hearing-impaired. Here, Gang In-ho, a devoted father laboring to fund his daughter's surgery, is assigned to teach. As he steps into the silent corridors, he stumbles upon a monstrous secret: the innocent children entrusted to this institution are victims of relentless physical and sexual abuse by their very protectors, the teachers. Emboldened by an urgent need for justice, In-ho aligns with the dynamic human rights activist, Seo Yu-jin, to fight for the children's rights and expose the sinister underbelly of this establishment. But their path to truth is fraught with powerful obstacles. The school's principal and staff, the supposed guardians of law and religion in the community, and even the very forces designed to protect - the police and prosecutors - are all cloaked in duplicity, striving to smother the horrifying reality. Inspired by chilling true events, "Silenced" unravels a harrowing tale of courage against a system steeped in silent sins. As In-ho and Yu-jin battle to unearth the truth, they uncover not just the heinous crimes committed in the school, but the pervasive corruption that has allowed such atrocities to fester. This film is a poignant reminder of the unspeakable horrors that can lurk in the most unexpected places, and the brave few who dare to challenge them.
