Alice Adams (1935)

In the humble folds of South Renford, Alice Adams emerges from a working-class family, her aspirations soaring far beyond their modest means. Fueled by her mother’s discontent with their low social position, despite her father's tireless efforts, Alice yearns for a taste of the opulence of the upper class. She meticulously crafts a façade of wealth and sophisticated charm, but the town's elite easily see through it, leaving her stranded amidst her own falsehoods.
