Plot

In the heart of Park Avenue, the young and gifted surgeon, Jim Stanton, shines as the newest beacon of a long family legacy in medicine. Convinced by his father of the nobility of their profession, Jim devotes himself to his thriving practice. However, when a scandal born from misconstrued facts engulfs him, the medical world, including his father and his high-society fiancée, Barbara Reed, turn their backs on him. Wounded and disillusioned, Jim discards his surgical scrubs and embarks on a restless journey, thumbing rides and sharing company with vagabonds, with no clear destination or means of subsistence. Fate takes a turn when Jim crosses paths with his old friend, Dick Miller, a pilot who is aware of Jim's predicament. Dick, who once taught Jim to fly, extends an offer to work as a mechanic at Roberts Airlines in Los Angeles. Jim accepts, on the condition that his previous life as a doctor remains a secret. He assumes a new identity, Jim Jones, hoping to bury the notoriety associated with his former name. However, blending into his new life proves difficult, especially when Doris King, a diligent nurse working at the airport's ambulance air corps, notices something extraordinary about him. Doris is captivated by Jim's enigmatic persona and falls for him. As she uncovers the hidden layers of Jim's past, she becomes resolute in her mission to restore him to his rightful place in the world of medicine. In the city of angels, Jim must grapple with the complexities of his past and future, and decide whether he can once again embrace the noble profession he once loved.
