The Quiet Duel (1949)

Set amidst the tumultuous backdrop of World War II in 1944, the film "The Quiet Duel" weaves a compelling narrative around Dr. Kyoji Fujisaki, a dedicated and virtuous physician. During a high-stress surgery in a battle-ridden field hospital, Dr. Fujisaki's life takes a dramatic turn as he accidentally cuts his finger with a scalpel, unbeknownst to him, infected with the spirochete of his patient, Susumu Nakada. In a striking turn of events, Dr. Fujisaki once again crosses paths with Nakada, this time in the police station of his own town. Discovering that Nakada's wife is with child, he confronts the man, challenging him to face his responsibilities for both his wife and unborn child.
