Green for Danger (1946)

In the grim shadow of WWII, amidst the chaos of V1 raids descending upon London, resides Heron's Park Hospital - a swirling vortex of jealousy, rivalry, and unrequited love among its operating theatre staff. When a postman inexplicably dies on the operating table, the undercurrents of suspicion bubble to the surface. This already tense and fraught environment is sent spiraling further into chaos when a fearless nurse announces she has damning evidence pointing to murder, only to be silenced by her own untimely and grisly demise. Into this complex web of intrigue steps the unorthodox, yet astute, Inspector Cockrill from Scotland Yard. Armed with his own brand of facetious wit, Cockrill finds himself in a race against time, suspecting one among the five operating staff - doctors and nurses who were present during the fateful surgery - to be the elusive killer. As the mystery deepens, four lethal pills vanish, adding another layer to this engrossing whodunit. Caught in a deadly crossfire of bitter professional rivalries and dark secrets, Cockrill must unravel the twisted threads leading to the crimes.
