Atonement (2007)

Wealthy Cecilia has fallen in love with Robbie, the son of her family's housekeeper. It isn't just class differences keeping them apart: Cecilia's younger sister Briony is jealous of them. Briony misunderstands an encounter between Robbie and Cecilia. Her lie about what happened ends up with Robbie's arrest. She spends the rest of her life trying to come to terms with what happened, against the backdrop of World War II.
