In the heart of the 1800s, Tamango is a tale of courage and defiance told on tumultuous seas. Dutch Captain John Reinke navigates his slave ship through treacherous waters, transporting a living cargo of captives from Africa to Cuba. His mistress and servant-slave, the captivating Aiche, accompanies him, stirring the envy of the ship's doctor, Corot. Corot, with a cunning play, convinces Aiche of Reinke's betrayal - his plans to wed a Dutch maiden and his lack of intention to ever set her free.
