Operator 13 (1934)

In the heart of the Civil War, Gail Loveless, an undercover agent dubbed Operator 13, serves the Union cause with stealth and ingenuity. Taking up the guise of Anne Claybourne, a Southern belle, she infiltrates Confederate circles, her heart unexpectedly stolen by dashing Captain Jack Galliard. As an octoroon maid at a grand Confederate gala, she uncovers crucial secrets, relaying them to the Union, thus dealing a significant blow to the Confederate cause. However, the tables turn when Galliard, the man she loves, is assigned to expose and eliminate the elusive spy maid. His mission leads him to the startling revelation that the woman he cherishes is, in fact, the spy he's been hunting. Capturing her but finding himself on the brink of being captured by approaching Union forces, Gail/Anne makes a daring move to save him. Their love story is left hanging in the balance, as they part ways, yearning for the day peace will allow them to rekindle their romance.
