Plot

In the tumultuous backdrop of revolution-torn Mexico, school teacher Harriet Winslow ventures forth on an assignment, only to be seized by the audacious Gen. Tomas Arroyo and his band of revolutionaries. Her path intertwines with Ambrose "Old Gringo" Bierce, an ailing American author concealed in the fabric of the rebellion. Bierce, realizing his days are numbered, yearns to control his destiny, seeking an honorable end by goading the temperamental Arroyo, despite their budding friendship. Caught in a web of intrigue and attraction, Harriet finds herself drawn to both the enigmatic Bierce and the charismatic Arroyo, igniting a romantic flame with the latter. Upon uncovering Bierce's true identity, she is touched by the revelation. A writer whose work she has admired for years stands before her, a dying man with a last wish. Her world tilts on its axis as she resolves to fulfill his final desire, setting the stage for an emotionally charged journey of self-discovery, love, and sacrifice.
