The Shining (1980)

Jack Torrance is a recovering alcoholic and writer who seeks solitude in order to finish his screenplay. Jack takes a job as the winter caretaker for the Overlook Hotel, a resort nestled high in a snowy mountain pass. With only his wife and son, Danny, to keep him company, Jack begins to experience strange phenomena as he walks the silent halls of the hotel. The only person who can sense what is really happening to Jack is Danny, the possessor of a rare psychic gift known as the Shining.
