Young Guns II (1990)

Narrated by the weathered voice of Brushy Bill Roberts, a tale unfolds that challenges the accepted narrative of the legendary outlaw, William H. Bonney, better known as Billy the Kid. Roberts, now an aging man, woos a young historian with a tale so captivating it seems too real to be fiction; he claims to be the famous bandit, who was supposedly shot dead by Patrick Floyd Garrett in 1881. His vivid recollections immerse us in a lawless world where he, along with his notorious companions like Arkansas Dave Rudabaugh, Chavez y Chavez, Doc Skurlock, and more, navigated the outlaw life, consistently eluding the grasp of the law. Their infamy escalates to such a degree that they become the most wanted men, painting targets on their backs. Their former ally, Garrett, gets entangled in their chaotic world when John Chisum, a cattle tycoon, employs a unique strategy to eliminate the problem at its root. Chisum's philosophy, "Let's hire a thief to catch one," leads him to offer Garrett a hefty bounty of $1000 to kill his old friend, Billy the Kid. As Billy's closest allies, "Doc" Scurlock and Chavez, fall into the clutches of the law, Billy has to maneuver a daring rescue. Their escape sets them on a path south, heading for the promise of freedom in Mexico. All the while, the specter of Garrett's pursuit looms over them, making their journey a thrilling game of cat and mouse. This is an enthralling tale of friendship, betrayal, and survival, told from the perspective of a man who might just be the infamous Billy 'The Kid'. The truth, however, remains as elusive as the outlaws themselves.
