Let's Get Tough (1942)

In the wake of the infamous Pearl Harbor attack, a wave of fury takes hold of Muggs, Danny, and their streetwise crew, igniting their patriotic spirit. Eager to serve their country, they find their path to enlistment blocked by the cruel hand of age restrictions. Their frustration manifests in a misguided assault on an Asian shopkeeper, who, to their horror, later turns up dead. The stark revelation that the victim was Chinese, not Japanese, weighs heavily on their conscience. Fuelled by remorse and a renewed sense of justice, they inadvertently stumble upon a clandestine operation by a group of genuine Japanese spies in their neighborhood. The boys, once misguided, now become the city's unlikely heroes, pledging to unmask these covert infiltrators. Amidst this turmoil, Danny is dealt another blow with the news of his elder brother's disgraceful discharge from the Navy.
