In the gritty heart of the East Side, army buddies Muggs and Glimpy return home with a secret. On the surface, it's a casual trip back to their old neighborhood; beneath the pretense, Muggs grapples with an honorable discharge due to an undisclosed physical defect. Their homecoming takes a sudden turn when they discover that Danny, another member of their childhood gang, has been unjustly incarcerated for a massive theft of medical supplies at the warehouse where he worked. A new face in the gang, Spider, catches Muggs' attention as he flaunts an unusual amount of cash. Crafting a façade of his own, Muggs dons the guise of a dishonored thief to gain Spider's trust. The gamble pays off when Spider confesses his involvement in the warehouse heist, revealing that he's been peddling the stolen supplies for Larry, the crafty nightclub operator where Muggs' sister, Milly, performs. However, the dangerous web of deceit tightens when Fingers, Larry's ruthless henchman, eliminates Spider upon discovering Muggs' infiltration into their operation. Now, with the police suspecting him of Spider's murder, Muggs must navigate through this treacherous maze of crime and corruption to clear Danny's name and protect his sister, all while keeping his own secret buried deep within.
