Spooks Run Wild (1941)

In the heart of an isolated mountain camp, a motley crew of boys find themselves marooned. A hushed whisper of a 'monster killer' haunting the rural wilderness sends ripples of fear and intrigue through their ranks. As darkness falls, curiosity gets the better of them, and they descend into the night, only to meet with disaster when one of their own, Peewee, is injured by a grave-digger. Desperate for help, they find themselves at the threshold of a foreboding old mansion. The enigmatic owner (Lugosi) insists they stay the night, but his hospitality quickly dissolves into suspicion when they witness Peewee wandering the halls in a trance-like state. Convinced their friend has been transformed into a zombie, they rally together to confront the sinister host. Meanwhile, the camp nurse (Dorothy Short) embarks on a rescue mission with Von Grosch (Dennis Moore), a man with a mysterious agenda. He claims his purpose is to purge the town of the alleged killer, but as the plot thickens, the boys must confront whether their true terror lies within the mansion or outside in the dark wilderness.
