In the rugged landscapes of the American Southwest, Joe Kidd (Clint Eastwood), an ex-bounty hunter and unyielding tough-talker, finds himself in the midst of a heated land dispute. A group of disenfranchised Mexicans, scorned by U.S. land claims that were conveniently erased in a suspicious courthouse fire, rise in defiance. Their charismatic and fiery leader, Luis Chama (John Saxon), echoes the winds of revolution and demands justice in land reform. In the shadow of the dispute, Frank Harlan (Robert Duvall), a wealthy and self-interested landowner, opts to take matters into his own lethal hands. Assembling a band of ruthless mercenaries, Harlan seeks out the expertise of Joe Kidd to hunt down the rebellious Chama. Initially, Kidd is reluctant to be drawn into the fray, but Chama’s audacious act of pilfering Kidd's horses and terrorizing his comrades forces Kidd's hand. As the sun sets over the arid Southwest, a battle of wills and wits begins to boil, pitting the relentless Joe Kidd against the revolutionary Chama, in a tale where justice, land, and loyalty hang in the balance.
