Plot

In the grim shadows of an abandoned house, seasoned detective Louis Burke is locked in a lethal showdown with a deranged killer known as the Sandman. Despite coming within a breath of his own demise, Burke fells the maniac with a well-placed bullet. Sixteen months later, he is summoned by the governor to infiltrate the bleak halls of Harrison Penitentiary, a place so repugnant it makes a public restroom in New York City seem like a palace. With the shroud of an ordinary inmate wrapped around him and legal eagle Amanda Beckett posing as his wife on the outside, Burke dives into the grimy underbelly of the prison. Amid this pit of despair, he manages to cultivate allies among the prisoners, including the hardened Hawkins and enigmatic Priest, who assist him in his clandestine investigation. Yet, the prison's sinister secret rapidly unfurls as inmates start dropping dead in mysterious circumstances. The nightmare intensifies when the Sandman reemerges in the prison's squalid depths. A more horrifying revelation awaits, the inmates are being harvested for their organs in a grisly black market operation. Outside the prison's high walls, Beckett uncovers the gruesome truth at a swanky party hosted by Vogler, the state's attorney general. The web of deceit extends to Vogler's henchman, Keane, and Dr. Gottesman, the twisted surgeon who carves out the organs for desperate buyers. In a desperate bid to expose the conspiracy, Burke attempts a daring prison escape. Hot on his heels are the Sandman, thirsting for revenge, and a horde of enraged inmates now aware of Burke's true identity. As Burke navigates this labyrinth of treachery, he is pulled into a brutal final confrontation with the Sandman, a battle that could either expose the grisly organ trade or bury the truth forever in the suffocating darkness of Harrison Penitentiary.
