This post-script to the popular anime series explores what the lives of the teenage EVA pilots are like now that the last angel is dead and they've accomplished what they've spent their whole lives training to do. Shinji Ikara struggles with a deep sense of depression, and Asuka is still in a coma. Meanwhile, Rei has turned her sights to the Human Instrumentality Project. But while the project was initially created as a way to advance humanity's evolution, there are people within the establishment who want to twist it to their own ends. As NERV headquarters falls into a full siege, only Shinji can save the day.
