I Origins (2014)

Ian Gray is a graduate student who's dedicated himself to discovering the evolutionary history of the human eye and debunking religious notions of "intelligent design" in the process. Over the course of years, he begins to develop a solid framework of data to work with and seems to be having success at mapping this evolutionary history. When he finds that the eyes of his newly born child are an exact match to someone in his database, he feels compelled to dig deeper into the secret. When he discovers that this person died just before his child's death, he's forced to contemplate higher questions or fate and the afterlife.
