William Parrish is a successful man living a life many around him are jealous of. As his 65th birthday approaches, Parrish gets an unusual house guest, Joe Black. Joe is planning a short stay. When he leaves, he wants Parrish to go with him. However, Black starts to reconsider his plan when he meets Parrish's daughter, Susan. Black feels like he knows Susan from a previous meeting, but can't remember when that occurred. Susan feels drawn to Black as well, however, she has no idea who she's really dealing with.
