Set against the flamboyant backdrop of the 1970's Hindi film industry, 'Om Shanti Om' tells the story of Om Prakash Makhija, a passionate junior artist who harbors a deep love for the enchanting actress, Shantipriya. Their lives intertwine when Om heroically rescues Shanti from a fire on set, sparking a friendship that seems to promise more. However, Om's dreams are dashed when he discovers that Shanti is married to the ruthless film producer, Mukesh Mehra, and is carrying his child. Darkness descends when Mukesh, in a bid to secure his career and financial status, traps Shanti in an abandoned studio and sets it aflame. Despite his newfound fame, echoes of his past life start to resurface when he encounters his grieving mother, Bela, from his previous birth and the nefarious Mukesh. Together, they decide to create a film aptly titled 'Om Shanti Om.' In a twist of fate, Om hires a look-alike of Shantipriya, rekindling the flame of his past love. As his memories continue to flood back, Om is compelled to seek the truth, hoping to extract a confession from Mukesh. However, the path to justice is fraught with danger, and Om once again finds his life on the line.
