From Hell to Victory (1979)

As the last days of peace fade on August 24, 1939, six friends from diverse backgrounds, bound by camaraderie, share a heartfelt farewell at a quaint French café. They pledge to reunite on the same date, at the same place, every year. However, as the storm clouds of World War II gather, their lives take drastic turns, each swept into the vortex of conflict in different ways. One plunges into the dangerous world of the French resistance, another breathes the militant air of the French commandos, while a third is reluctantly conscripted into the Nazi army. Meanwhile, one soars into the skies as a flier, and the remaining two navigate the trials of being simple officers. Their commitment to their annual reunion is tested by the chaos of war, as the promise of meeting again becomes increasingly elusive. The movie "From Hell to Victory" paints a vivid tableau of friendship, loyalty, and the harsh realities of wartime. As the veil of Nazi occupation lifts from Paris, the surviving trio of friends, battered but unbroken, find their way back to the café.
