In the heart of the city, the charismatic problem-solver Hamberger thrives, a local hero with a silver tongue and an uncanny knack for fixing what's broken. He isn't a licensed detective, but he might as well be, with his quick wit, his loyal and radiant girlfriend-assistant Rina, and his mobile office that could be any fine local diner. His reputation is cemented with his latest feat - rescuing a terrified beauty from the clutches of a deranged gunman. But with the dust settled on that case, Hamberger finds himself in need of a new challenge.
Enter Alex Burton, a suave businessman with an unusual request - he wants Hamberger to kill his wife, Sharon. Intrigued and sensing a deeper plot, Hamberger accepts, but with no intention of fulfilling the deadly contract. Instead, he takes Burton's cash and warns the unsuspecting Sharon of her husband's ominous intentions. Seduced by her beauty and gratitude, he succumbs to a night of passion, waking up to find her gone, his money stolen, and a note stating she's fled for good.
Hamberger, thinking he's once again solved a problem, returns home where Rina has organized a small celebration. But the festive mood is shattered when the police storm in, arresting him for Sharon's murder. The dead woman, however, is not the one he met, and he realizes he's been set up. With the help of his old rival, Detective Paul Lefferts, Hamberger is given a chance to prove his innocence.
He now finds himself embroiled in a twisted web of deception and danger, involving counterfeit identities, vicious killers, special effect artists, ruthless drug lords, and corrupt entrepreneurs. With the stakes higher than ever and his relationship with Rina on the line, Hamberger must navigate this treacherous labyrinth to unearth the truth and clear his name. This isn't just another case - it's the case of a lifetime.
