Network (1976)

It's the 1970s, and news stations are in frenzied competition to see who can get the most sensationalized stories and get the attention of the most viewers. So when a disgruntled former UBS anchor comes on live television and threatens to shoot himself, it's both a crisis and a potential opportunity for the accountants at UBS. Howard Beale just wants to tell his story and vent his frustration about what the news has become, but UBS may have shot themselves in the foot by letting his rant air. Because as he continues to talk, what he says makes a lot of sense.
