Plot

In the heart of New Zealand, three cousins - Mata, Missy, and Makareta - are tethered together by the unbreakable bonds of kinship, despite being scattered by the winds of circumstance. Mata, an orphan shrouded in the cloak of loneliness, navigates her childhood lost and frightened, unaware of her ancestral roots. Meanwhile, under the same ancestral skies, Makareta, fueled by an insatiable thirst for knowledge, escapes a predestined marital bond to delve into the realm of law, her heart set on finding her estranged cousin. She leaves in her wake the spirited and devoted Missy, who embraces the mantle of kaitiaki, becoming the guardian of their ancestral land. As the sands of time slip through their fingers, the impending loss of their familial soil looms ominously, and the promise to reunite their fragmented family appears more like a distant dream. However, a serendipitous encounter stirs the still waters, offering a glimmer of hope that could alter their destiny forever. The tale of Cousins is a poignant journey of discovery, belonging, and the powerful ties that bind us to our roots.
