Plot
In the heartwarming series, Personal Taste (2010), an unexpected love story unfolds amidst laughter, tears, and a sprinkle of unique circumstances. At the heart of the tale is Park Kae-in (Ye-jin Son), a quirky, yet endearing furniture designer, living alone in 'Old World'—an extraordinary architectural homage to traditional Korea. This resplendent hanok, built by her father and a tribute to her late mother, is also the venue of an impending architecture competition—one that architect Jeon Jin-ho (Min-ho Lee) is desperate to win.
Money troubles force Kae-in to seek a roommate, paving the way for Jin-ho's entry into her life and the coveted house. To secure his spot and gain access to the treasured 'Old World,' Jin-ho cleverly allows Kae-in to believe he's gay. As they share the same roof, their camaraderie blooms into something deeper, albeit under the misapprehension of Jin-ho's sexuality.
Their journey towards love is laden with trials and tribulations as they grapple with a host of challenges. Kae-in's ex-boyfriend, Han Chang-ryul (Ji-seok Kim), is drawn back to her, while her friend turned foe, Kim In-hee (Ji-hye Wang), harbors feelings for Jin-ho. Meanwhile, the return of Kae-in's father and her subsequent discovery of Jin-ho's real reason for moving into 'Old World' add to the complexity of their relationship.
Personal Taste is a tale of love found in the most unlikely places, woven into a humorous yet tender romantic comedy. Unpredictable and captivating, this series earned high ratings and a vast fanbase in 2010, proving once again that love, in all its forms, can indeed be a surprise.
