In the vibrant cityscape of Montreal, Quebec, Anjali, a young woman with a shared English and Hindi heritage, finds herself ensnared in a forbidden love affair with Raja, a struggling musician. Their love story, as passionate as it is hidden, faces the stern wall of traditional Hindu values upheld by Anjali's parents.
Anjali's life takes a dramatic turn when her married and pregnant sister, Aarti Sahani, arrives from India for a visit. Aarti, the only one privy to Anjali's secret love, approves of Raja and promises to bridge the chasm between their clandestine romance and their parents' acceptance. However, fate cruelly intervenes as Aarti tragically succumbs to childbirth, leaving behind twin daughters and a grieving husband, Aditya.
In the face of these unforeseen circumstances, Anjali is implored to marry Aditya, a successful businessman, in accordance with Hindu traditions. Fearing the twins' wellbeing in the event of Aditya's remarriage, Anjali consents, trading her dreams of love for the sober reality of responsibility. As the newly formed family relocates to India, Anjali's life begins to revolve around her new role, a stark contrast to her earlier life in Canada.
Years roll by and a distant Aditya is absorbed in his business, leaving Anjali yearning for companionship. Despite her attempts to replicate Aarti and win Aditya's affection, Anjali's efforts are met with indifference. The monotony of her life is ruptured when Raja, now a rockstar, arrives in India for a tour and their paths cross again. Old flames flicker back to life, but Anjali's sacrifice and commitment to her sister's family stand as formidable barriers to their love.
With the resurgence of old feelings and the sudden entrance of two meddlesome friends of Aditya, Dil and Pallo, Anjali is torn between her past love and her present obligations. The stage is set for an emotional saga that explores the depths of love, sacrifice, and the ties that bind us.
