With the Cold War grinding away in the early 1970s, the British intelligence service suffers a severe setback in a Hungarian operation that goes terribly wrong. A British agent is killed and overall security is deeply compromised. Top MI6 officials suspect a Russian mole has worked his way into the top tiers of the British spy agency. They call upon espionage veteran George Smiley to come out of retirement to find the mole if he really exists. Smiley will navigate the incredibly dangerous and murky waters of international espionage as he risks his life to flush out a Communist spy.
