Another Earth (2011)

As high school student Rhoda Williams celebrates her admission into MIT, an unprecedented scientific discovery is made. A twin Earth has appeared in our solar system identical to the one humanity lives on. Careless driving on Rhoda's part results in an accident that kills the wife and son of musical composer John Burroughs. The price Rhoda pays is four years in jail and a lost opportunity to go to her dream school. Now out of prison, Rhoda is living with her parents and struggling with suicidal thoughts. When she goes to make amends with Burroughs, she finds a new path for her life.
