Beaufort (2007)

Beaufort chronicles the gripping tale of Liraz Liberti, a young 22-year-old commander, and his band of soldiers stationed at an outpost, during the final days of Israel's presence in Lebanon. However, this narrative pivots not around the chaos of war, but the haunting paradox of retreat. The enemy here is not a tangible adversary but an elusive force that rains down terror from the heavens, thrusting the petrified soldiers into a relentless struggle for survival and purpose on the isolated mountaintop. As Liberti finds himself burdened with the task of planting explosives to obliterate the very fortress his comrades had sacrificed their lives defending, he is confronted with a crushing deconstruction of all he had internalized as an officer. This poignant tale mirrors the gradual unraveling of a soldier's psyche and physical endurance, painting a stark portrait of war's unseen aftermath.
