Village of the Damned (1960)

In the quaint and typically peaceful English hamlet of Midwich, an inexplicable force inexplicably blankets the town, plunging every living creature into an abrupt, deep slumber. The town's resident scientist, Gordon Zellaby, is in the midst of a phone call when he too succumbs to this mysterious, narcoleptic spell. As the military intervenes, they discover a perplexing reality - this force has distinct, unyielding boundaries. A soldier, tethered by a rope, ventures into the affected area only to collapse instantly, but immediately regains consciousness when hauled back across the invisible line. The strange force dissipates as quickly as it appeared, leaving the villagers awake and bewildered. For weeks, the unsettling incident remains a perplexing puzzle, until an unexpected consequence surfaces. Every woman in Midwich of childbearing age finds herself mysteriously pregnant. Months later, these pregnancies culminate in the birth of eerily identical children. All bear the same platinum blond hair and possess unnerving, penetrating eyes that glow with an otherworldly intensity. As they grow at an alarming rate, it becomes clear that they wield a disturbing power - the ability to manipulate others into actions against their will. The once tranquil village of Midwich now faces a terrifying reality, as these glowing-eyed offspring prove to be a manifestation of fear far worse than anything they could have ever imagined.
