Primal Fear (1996)

The brutal killing of an Archbishop by a young man who appears to have a learning disability grabs the attention of the entire city. Celebrity lawyer Martin Vail initially sees it as a way to gain even more publicity, but soon comes to believe the timid young man. Accused killer Aaron Stampler claims that he was present for the murder but that a different killer was present. The ongoing investigation brings to light the dark and shady habits of the Archbishop and dramatically complicate the circumstances behind the crime. As Vail puts together a defense, he also considers his own sense of ethics.
