Platoon (1986)

Chris Taylor is a naive college student who gives up his privileged university life to go into the service and fight in the Vietnam War in 1967. Shortly after he arrives in Vietnam and assigned to an infantry platoon of the 25th Infantry Division near the Cambodian border, he quickly realizes the harsh realities of war and the effects of combat has on the servicemen. Not only does he have to deal with the harsh realities of war, but he also has to deal with infighting in his unit between two noncommissioned officers. These noncommissioned officers include the hard-nosed and quick-tempered Staff Sergeant Robert Barnes and the more sympathetic Sergeant Elias Grodin.
