The War Within (2005)

Born in Pakistan but now a content immigrant in the USA, Sayeed Choudhury enjoys a peaceful life in New York with his wife Farida, their school-aged children, Rasheeda and Ali, and his unmarried sister, Duri. Their simple American life takes an unexpected turn when they receive an early morning knock on their door. Standing at the threshold is Hassan, Sayeed's childhood friend, eagerly welcomed by the unsuspecting Choudhury family. Hassan, with his imminent employment in the States, is invited to stay with the Choudhury family for a few days. Duri, who is dating a Caucasian man named Mike, is instantly drawn to Hassan, while Ali is captivated by Hassan's guidance on the true essence of Islam, where one Muslim's pain is felt by all. Sayeed, enjoying the harmonious coexistence of diverse cultures in America, is blissfully unaware of the dark shadow looming behind Hassan's smile. Hassan perceives America differently - a nation held hostage by fear, greed, and war, where non-Muslims are seen as ignorant. Sayeed's tranquil life is shattered when he discovers Hassan's real intention behind his visit - a deadly suicide mission to bomb Grand Central Station. The story takes a gripping turn when a confrontation forces Hassan to leave the Choudhury household. The question remains whether Hassan will be successful in executing his lethal plan and what impact his actions will have on the lives entwined with his. This compelling narrative explores the struggle between friendship, faith, and family against the backdrop of a nation grappling with fear.
