In the heart of a small Texan town, there lives an exceptional young man, Augie Baccus. A paragon of athletic prowess in his early twenties, Augie commands respect as the leading quarterback, top scorer in basketball, and the fastest sprinter in town. But his most potent talent lies in his uncanny ability to dominate the greens of golf, a talent that sees him shatter course records and clinch the city's Golf Championship by an astounding 15 shots. This feat of brilliance catches the ear of Riverboat, a suave Southern gambler with a penchant for high-stakes games, and his flamboyantly decked out wife Jessie.
