Plot

In the suspenseful mystery film "Murder She Said" (1961), we are introduced to the inimitable Dame Margaret Rutherford in her first portrayal of Dame Agatha Christie's cherished detective, Miss Jane Marple. Our story begins on a train, where Miss Marple, despite not fitting Dame Agatha's physical description, bears witness to a chilling scene - a murder in broad daylight. Through the window of a passing train, she sees a man ruthlessly strangling a woman. When she brings her account to the police, they dismiss her as an eccentric old woman, unable to find any evidence supporting her claim. Undeterred, Miss Marple, with her tenacious spirit and razor-sharp mind, decides to take matters into her own hands. She allies with the congenial yet equally resolute Mr. Stringer, the village librarian, and together they embark on a quest to uncover the truth. Their investigation leads them to Ackenthorpe Hall, the exact location where the body was presumably ejected from the train. Successfully infiltrating the manor house under the guise of a maid, Miss Marple finds herself in the midst of an array of intriguing characters. Among them is the manor's lord, a stingy yet amiable grump. In this labyrinth of secrets and intrigue, Miss Marple is convinced that the answer to the murder lies within these very walls. This tale of suspense, filled with unexpected twists and turns, will keep you on the edge of your seat as you navigate the maze of mystery alongside Miss Marple. Despite initial disagreements about Rutherford's casting, both Dame Agatha Christie and her fans came to admire Dame Margaret's portrayal of Miss Marple, with Christie even dedicating one of her books, "The Mirror Crack'd From Side to Side", to her "friend, Margaret Rutherford."
