Plot
Guided by his passion for cabinetmaking, Luc finds himself journeying to the vibrant hustle of Paris. As a stranger in the sprawling banlieues, a chance encounter with the timid Djemila helps him navigate the city's labyrinth. In her shyness, Luc sees the spark of an unexpected adventure - a fleeting romance that colors his otherwise ordinary life. However, the ties of his past pull him back to his father's carpentry shop, where he meets Geneviève, a familiar face from his past, and their romance blossoms.
As Luc oscillates between his provincial past and his dreams of the future, he receives a golden opportunity - a spot at the prestigious École Boulle, a renowned furniture-making school. Torn between love and ambition, he chooses his dreams, leaving Geneviève and his old life behind. In the heart of Paris, Luc's small apartment soon welcomes a third woman - a vivacious free spirit, embodying the allure and liberation of the big city.
Thus, "The Salt of Tears" weaves a tale of a young provincial man who ventures into the grandeur of Paris, his life intertwining with three different women. Each woman brings a new chapter, a new emotion, and a new lesson, painting Luc's journey with shades of love, ambition, and the bittersweet taste of growing up.
