8 Mile (2002)

Jimmy "B-Rabbit" Smith is an aspiring rap artist and a masterful rap-battler. However, he suffers from crippling stage fright and runs off the stage at his first rap battle at the beginning of the movie. B-Rabbit's various struggles throughout the film are highlighted, including his efforts to climb out of poverty, challenges with his mom, evolving relationship with his girlfriend Alex, and efforts to help his friends be successful in life. B-Rabbit also has to deal with betrayal and backstabbers as he attempts to build himself a real rap career, one that will get him out of the ghetto that he lives in.
