In the bustling heart of New York City, two wildly different personalities collide within the confines of an apartment building. Felix Sherman, a mild-mannered, unpublished novelist and part-time bookstore clerk, finds his quiet, scholarly world disrupted by the boisterous Doris Wilgus, a forthright and unrefined woman of the night. Their lives, though seemingly parallel, are marked by a distant rivalry; his incessant typing interrupts her professional endeavors, while her loud complaints about his work grind on his nerves. This antagonistic relationship takes a dramatic turn when they unwittingly cause each other's eviction. Thrust into a shared predicament, they find themselves bound by their sudden homelessness and an unexpected attraction begins to ignite. Felix, drawn to Doris's raw, uninhibited nature, and Doris, intrigued by his intellectual depth, find themselves in a dance of opposites. Yet, their budding relationship is far from a smooth waltz.
