Plot

'The Net' is a poignant tale of Namchulwoo, a humble fisherman, who leads a content life with his wife and daughter on the northern banks of a river, the silent divider between the two Koreas. Known and trusted by the local checkpoint soldiers, he ventures daily into the river's embrace, an invisible border he vows never to cross. However, a twist of fate challenges his tranquil existence when his fishing net entangles with his boat's engine, setting him adrift into the unfamiliar waters of the South. Captured in this alien land, Namchulwoo endures relentless interrogations, his innocence lost amidst the turbulent political currents. As he navigates through this ordeal, he catches glimpses of the stark contrasts in South Korean society, a reality veiled behind its glossy, developed facade. His eventual release back to North Korea brings him face to face with stark revelations about the world beyond his river, forever altering his perception of life. 'The Net' weaves an evocative narrative of a simple man caught in the intricate web of geopolitical tensions, illuminating the stark disparities between two worlds that exist mere miles apart.
