The Missing Gun (2002)

Emerging from the intoxicating haze of his sister Ma Juan's wedding celebration in a quaint Chinese province, Detective Ma Shan is jolted awake by an unsettling discovery - his service gun, loaded with three bullets, has vanished. As the fog of the previous night's revelries thickens, he finds himself stumbling down a trail of forgotten memories, desperately trying to piece together the puzzle of the missing weapon. His superiors, furious at this egregious breach of responsibility, leave Ma Shan grappling with his honour and duty while battling the ticking clock. As Ma Shan retraces his tangled steps, he plunges into an intricate labyrinth of wedding guests and fragmented recollections, each one a tantalising clue that teasingly eludes his grasp. Zhou's startling confession reveals that Li Xiaomeng's death was an unfortunate accident in a twisted plot of revenge and deception. Realizing the gravity of the escalating danger, Ma Shan devises a daring plan. Using Zhou Xiaogang as a pawn in this deadly game, he sets a trap for the real murderer, hoping to reclaim his stolen gun and restore his tarnished reputation.
