Plot

In the wake of the war, three soldiers, each bearing their unique scars, find themselves in a world that seems to have moved on without them. TK Poole, a hardened sergeant nursing an injury from a routine patrol, yearns to reunite with his fiancé. Cheever, a middle-aged family man, is desperate to return to his wife and a life that holds the promise of normalcy. Meanwhile, Colee, a naive private, clings to the mission of delivering her fallen boyfriend's guitar to his family as a tangible link to her past. Their paths cross in the hustle and bustle of a New York blackout. Stranded and with their flights cancelled, the trio decides to share a ride back to St. Louis. What begins as a simple cross-country ride morphs into an unexpected journey of self-discovery, stretching far beyond their initial destination. TK grapples with the fear of facing his wife, his confidence shaken by a shrapnel injury threatening his sexual function. Cheever, in a desperate bid to secure his son's future, contemplates a risky dive into the world of casinos. Colee, driven by a sense of duty and gratitude, is determined to return her boyfriend's guitar, an emblem of the life that saved her. Together, they navigate a country divided, old relationships, and shattered dreams. As they journey through the heartland, they discover that home has changed, their memories clashing with reality. But in this chaos, they find solace in their unlikely companionship. Their shared experience and collective resilience form an unspoken bond, revealing that perhaps what matters most is the journey, not the destination, and the friends we make along the way.
