The Last House on the Left (1972)

On the cusp of her seventeenth birthday, the vivacious Mari Collingwood embarks on an adventurous night out with her loyal friend, Phyllis Stone. The two are caught in the vibrant buzz of the underground music scene, their hearts set on attending a concert of the enigmatic band Bloodlust in the pulse of New York City. Borrowing her family's car, Mari navigates them through the city's labyrinthine streets, unwittingly leading them into the jaws of danger. Meanwhile, the city's shadows hide a monstrous quartet - the sadistic escapees Krug Stillo and Fred 'Weasel' Podowski, along with their equally twisted companions, Sadie and Krug's drug-addled son, Junior Stillo. Leaving a trail of violence and death in their wake, they take refuge in a grim hideout, plotting their next malicious moves. The two unsuspecting girls, seeking an innocent high to enhance their concert experience, encounter Junior. He lures them into the criminal's den with the promise of Colombian grass. The night turns into a horrifying ordeal, as the girls are subjected to brutal physical, mental, and sexual assault. When dawn breaks, the convicts stuff their victims in the trunk of their car, speeding towards the Canadian border. However, fate has a cruel sense of irony. A car malfunction forces them to stop eerily close to Mari's home. A desperate escape attempt by Phyllis ends in her gruesome murder, while Mari, too, meets an equally horrific end. Seeking refuge, the convicts unknowingly invade Mari's home. Under the cloak of night, Mari's mother overhears their chilling conversation, revealing the monstrous act committed against her daughter. The revelation sparks a thirst for revenge in Mari's parents. As the dawn breaks, the stage is set for a brutal retaliation, a twist of fate where the hunters become the hunted in this chilling tale of vengeance and horror.
