Plot

In the bloom of her twenty-first year, Tracy's life is thrown into disarray when she discovers her boyfriend Mark's secret tryst with another man. Devastated, yet pragmatic, she departs, only to return with an unconventional proposal: an agreement to marry, with the condition that the unexpected infidelity be forgotten. Mark, in a whirl of confusion, accepts, unaware of the full weight of the compromises they both must shoulder. Their relationship, strained and brittle, begins to crumble, revealing cracks in their seemingly perfect facade. But, in the midst of their disintegrating bond, Tracy's world unfurls in her vibrant Los Feliz neighborhood. She stumbles upon a band of eccentric locals: the hermit-like Sebastian, a man who's renounced society following a poisonous spider bite; Luann, a childhood starlet turned bohemian spirit; Krista, Mark's relentlessly ambitious talent manager; Jonathan, a journalist for a prominent gay magazine; and Ricky, a handsome Mexican grappling with his faltering food truck business. As Tracy navigates her tumultuous life, she uncovers a latent passion for culinary artistry, sparking a transformation within herself. Her newfound zeal not only alters her perspective but also acts as a catalyst, compelling her neighbors to confront their own challenges and evolve in unexpected ways. The Happys (2018) is a story of resilience, self-discovery, and the intricate tapestry of human connection, all nestled within the heart of a richly diverse neighborhood.
