Plot

The Air I Breathe (2007) is a compelling drama, weaving together four distinct narratives aligned with the profound Chinese proverb that life is composed of four emotional pillars: happiness, pleasure, sorrow, and love. A hapless bank clerk, tangled in monotony, stumbles upon a risky opportunity to spin his fortunes by betting on a horse race, based on the hushed whispers from his co-workers. However, his luck fades, and he finds himself in the unforgiving clutches of the formidable mobster, Fingers. In the heart of the underworld, a gangster with a unique endowment of perceiving fragments of the future serves Fingers. He navigates through his dangerous assignments alongside his unpredictable nephew, Tony, only to be ensnared by an unexpected showdown with a rival gang. Parallely, a renowned pop-star, Trista, becomes an unsuspecting pawn in this ruthless game when her manager surrenders her contract to Fingers, leading her into a chilling encounter with the gangster's world. Lastly, the narrative introduces a devoted doctor, harboring a secret, unspoken love for a beautiful epidemiologist married to his friend. When she is on the brink of death, he embarks on a desperate hunt for a rare blood donor, turning the doctor's personal and professional life into a precarious balancing act. The Air I Breathe paints a vivid picture of these intertwined lives, each character wrestling with their own emotional cornerstone, their destinies bound by a thread of power, crime, and a desperate quest for salvation.
